dr dre beats headphones,Eminem bemoans a radio-friendly nature of hip-hop to the new song ‘Syllables,’ featuring guest verses from Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Stat Quo and Cashis.
The track opens with Eminem speaking the lines, “It seriously isn’t about lyrics anymore / It’s about a hot beat together with a catchy hook” inside of a high-pitched, Slim Shady-esque nasal voice. A piano beat appears as he raps, “Nowadays these kids, jeez / Don’t supply a s— bout lyrics / All they wanna hear is really a beat that is certainly it.”
The guest rappers follow using their own verses complaining of what rap has become. Jay-Z says jokingly, “I’m looking to time my album dropping that has a reality show,” while Dre raps, “The torch is gonna burn out before it gets passed,” and 50 Cent raps, “Just give me my check and Soon we will be on my way—-dr dre headphones.”
Eminem adds some comic relief that has a sarcastic, sing-along pop chorus about loving his shorty, with absolutely nothing to do using the theme with the song. He closes the track by saying repeatedly, “Now get out there and sell some god—- records.”
Though ‘Syllables’ appeared online only during the past week, MTV is reporting the fact that song was actually recorded programs 2007. That would be the better choice given the lyrical reference to ‘TRL,’ the MTV countdown show that went off the actual environment in 2008.
